On flashes for my D30.

After deliberating - I've decided to go with the Speedlite 420EX for now. The advice received that it was easier to operate and lighter to carry really sold me.

I don't do much flash photography - other than the "snapshot" varieties at parties and Christmas - so I think it'll work well enough for now!

Thanks again for the advice!

Carole,

I have the D30/420EX combo and had terrible results with exposure at first. Some were over exposed, some under, and some just right. There was no way to predict the outcome.

I then tried the FEL prefire before every shot and have had no trouble since. I have even played with manual settings for more "artsy" combinations of ambient/room/flash mixes and have learned not to fear my flash and the devastating effect it may have on my images.

I'm not sure if you may experience the same, but just a "been there" story.

Carol,

I have the 420EX for my D30 and I am really a novice at photography. The results have been fantastic.
