I've been wanting to do a 'photoshoot' in the hospital that I work in for quite some time. About six months ago our hospital bought out and moved into a bigger, neighboring hospital that went bankrupt last year. Anyway, all the departments left except mine since the new hospital doesn't have a inpatient psychiatric unit, leaving my department and the crisis unit in a big, abandoned hospital which can be freaky at times. Anyway I love how quiet and untouched everything was left on all the medical floors. I'm having a hard time portraying what I see, but oh well. I definitely need a wide angle lens, all this was done with my 60mm since it's the shortest focal length I have
If I can't get a 17-40mm soon, I think I'll rent the 10-22mm to really capitalize on the environment.

Only three pictures from last night since I was rushed so it's not my best. I was thinking about converting them to B&W but I honestly liked them in color better. I just played with levels on them and added a little noise on the first two. I work tomorrow night so I should have more, and I'll take my full hour dinner break this time. If I don't get as much as I want I think I'll just stay after my shift ends since I don't like carrying my equipment in and out of the building.

C&C is always welcome, enjoy!

Your b/w conversions are decent, but I think they could use a bit more contrast.

Was this truly abandoned? How did you come across it?

If you have the opportunity to go back, maybe try for a more unique angle. They're promising though. What a great place to hone your skills!

I really like the last one in the fist post with the skyline. :)

I can imagine its pretty eery walking between the departments. Is your department staying in the hospital longterm?!

I agree with a previous poster that a bit more contrast would give them that pop. They look like a prop set for a scary movie like Saw or something.. Me likey...

Thanks for the kind words :)

As I said in my first post it is abandoned in that most of the departments are closed/unoccupied since the hospital was moved to a different facility. My department as well as 1 or 2 others are still open on a temporary basis since they need to build upon the newer facility.

My second set wasn't as processed as much, I'll probably do some re-editing.

Great pictures it's cool that you got the opportunity to shoot these before the hospital gets left like that and turns into what we percieve a hospital condition to be after it's been abandoned for years.

I have been really tempted to take pictures in the hospital while my grandfather was admitted for several months.
I figured it wouldn't be a good idea though.
Great shots.
