I posted this question in "general chat" room but think it's more appropriate here.

It can be used when you say "Wa - I can't fit everything into the frame!"

Set it on WIDE. Hold it up to your eye, get close to something & look at it. Move around a bit.
Does that give you any ideas?

Great, I suppose "get close" is the key word.

When we get close to something with a lens, the closer subject's size is exaggerated (perspective distortion). It gives dramatic effects most of the time. It seems that Photojournalists like to use WA for this reason.

Moreover, getting close with something will bring out the "distance" of different subjects -- making the photo with some depth.

Making fun with your WA lens.

The main reasons I got my wide angle adapter for my G3 to make my photos of cars, landscapes and architecture look better.

I haven't used it much for the latter two...but when I go to a car show now I've always got my WA handy and I find my nicest shots are obtained with it.

Hey, Angus! I visited your gallery but didn't see any car stuff. Got any online?

after the portrait shot of my darling sister are a series of photos of her sexy 1966 Humber Vogue.

Also under "events": Wintersun 2003 and Greazefest 2003 (towards the bottom of the list) there are some shots from a couple of rod/kustom kulture festivals held around near my home. Unfortunately I think those shots pre-date my WA adapter though. I'll post my more recent shots in the next couple of days. Thanks for the reminder!

She has a '66 "Rootes Group"! I had one back about then (Hillman), except unlike mine, hers looks like it's never been on the road!

That about sums it up!

I was not a wide-angle person in my younger years, but having 28 mm available on a film camera changed all that. There's a lot you can do with wide - it has some very interesting practical and artistic value.

Up until very recently it was her daily driver. :D

It belonged to a friend of mine who sold it to her for AUD$300 and a computer motherboard, it was in pretty crap condition back then. She spent approx AUD$5000 making it pretty and has driven it daily for the last 3 years or so. Now "Huey" is retired and will be a weekend driver only.
