I went the local camera store and he has priced me a Digital Rebel body only for $899.00 which I think is high because you can get them with the standard lense for that price, but he said for $50.00 more I can get the Tamron Zoom Telephoto AF 80-210mm f/4.5-5.6 Autofocus Lens for Canon is this a good lens and worth the $50.00 or just not that good but maybe worth the $50.00. For some reason he shyed away from trying to sell me the Canon 10d? I dont understand that. Anyways, please let me know asap about the Tamron lens, as I will either purchase the canon dRebel kit at Circuit City with the lens or buy it at the camera store, Monday.

Thanks.
Chad.

This is the cheapest telezoom they make i believe-and it shows it.
I have only seen a few pics taken with one but some characteristics stood out, mostly the thing i notice most about cheap kit lenses--strong contrast and low resolution. That effect is very ugly if you ask me

I have no idea about distortion ,i don't worry about such things.

If you want a recommendation for an alternative-price a canon EF 80-200 II.It's an amazingly sharp lens for it's size and price :D
