Loving the 300... would have liked to get closer to this little guy but the lens is so sharp i was able to crop it quite severely. :)

Nice catch James. Mine is so sharp I can crop quite a bit and still keep great IQ. I also use the 1.4x TC to make it a 420mm lens, with very little or no loss of image quality, and I can crop those too. :)

What I like best about this lens is it's small size and light weight. I had the 400L Prime, non-IS and it was much bigger and heavier. Now this 300mm uses the same big end glass as the 400L did, 77mm, and that's why it gives f/4 instead of f/5.6. But, with the 1.4x TC, you get 420mm, and it's still smaller and lighter than the 400L was, and still, just as sharp and fast to focus. ;)
And you guys have the added advantage of IS, although I have never missed it.
