I just received it today and just want to let anyone know who is interested that it will hold the Digital Rebel with grip and 100-400L lens with the lens hood mounted ready for pictures. It will hold this plus a couple of smaller lenses and a flash plus filters, batteries etc. I really like it. It has 1 strap that goes across your shoulder and can be swiveled from backpack position to front position without removing from your shoulder. I got it new for $50 plus $9.95 shipping on ebay. I think B&H sells it for $56.95 plus $6.95 shipping.

Congrats, you should post a photo... or a link to one if you do not wish to anger the gods. ;-)

I am new to the forum and am not sure how to do that. I do not have a web page and do not belong to any upload service. I do sell things sometimes on ebay but I can upload right off my computer.

I bought a Velocity 7 and sent it back because it was too small. The Velocity 9 in pictures looks fairly big. I liked the design of the Velocity 7, but the weight is all placed on one shoulder strap. I'm wondering if carrying the larger Velocity 9 would eventually become uncomfortable. Have you carried it far?

I have not carried it any distance at all yet, you could be right if it was really loaded down.

The Velocity 9 is larger and more bulky then the 7, but if you must use the BGED3 or use a 1 series camera, you need the extra width. I use the 9 and 7, but I like the 7 more. The 9 will comfortably fit a 1D Mark II and Canon 4000 f/5.6 and wide angle lens or flash on the side.

Scott - what lens can you carry with the Velocity 7? 100-400? 24-70? I'm curious as to how it stacks up since I may be looking for yet another camera bag.

I use my Velocity 7 when I travel by air.
I have it setup with a center divider from top to bottom slightly off center. I can carry the 10D (without a grip) attached to the 17-40L on the wider side, the 70-200 f/4L on the other side, and across the top under the flap the 420EX. If I don't want the flash I can put a paperback book there instead. In the pouch there's room for an extra battery, a 77mm polarizer, a cable release, a tabletop tripod and a lenspen. In the flap pocket I keep extra CF cards. Works well for me.

I can easily carry the 10D (no battery grip), 100-400 IS L, a short prime or zoom, and a flash. Long primes are not going to fit.

Thanks, Scott. Its not a real expensive bag, and I like Tamrac quality. I can see myself carrying the 24-70 and the 85 plus flash for event photography.

Does anyone have a photo of this bag with their gear in it? I think posts about bags with photos are most helpful.
Thanks.

Since Adorama messed up my order, I decided to cancel.
I was planning on getting the Slinger, but now I may get a velocity.
I have a 300D with Grip, and mainly will have the 135F2L mounted with lens hood, and probably the 50mm and 85mm lenses and 420ex.
Would the Velocity 7 or 9 be enough?
Decisions, decision!

The battery grip makes the camera too wide for the 7. Also in the 7, you can only fit one add'l lens.

Not sure how the 300D compares dimensionally, but a D60 mounted to a 28-135mm lens fits in my Velocity 7 with both 50mm/1.4 and 20-35mm lenses. That's without battery grip, but fits small stuff like remote controller, extra battery, flash media wallet, etc. I like the compact portability especially for bike rides. The cover is rain repellant, but I include a gallon-size zip-lock bag for the camera and smaller bags for the other lenses in case I get soaked.
Anything more, I use a Domke Iguana 20 backpack which can hold the battery grip, my rain jacket & compact umbrella (the pack has its own rain cover), PDA, iBook, cell phone, food.

We have the velocity 7 at ritz camera, but not the velocity 9. I'd know, cause i'm aching to get my hands on one for my 10D when I buy it next month. I've never actually seen the velocity 9 but i know it's about 2 in larger than the 7 on all sides, and the design fits just about everyone like a glove.

I did a lot of searching for a toploader style bag and settled on the Velocity 9 because of the large lens capacity and it instantly switches from back to chest. My normal walk around lens is the Sigma 80-400 EX OS and it fits nicely attached to a 10D with BigEd and lens hood inverted. This package fits straight down the middle and there is plenty of room on either side for any extra lenses. I also cary a Sigma 28-300 and a macro lens along with a D30 and there is still plenty of room left in the main compartment. There are several nice velcro-adjustable dividers to suit your needs. The only drawback I have found is all the weight is on one shoulder.

Can anyone who owns the Velocity 9 and carries a pro DSLR like the 1D comment on the comfort of the bag when carried fully loaded for extended periods.

Haiku, I can comment on that. I have the velocity 9 and the 1dsmkII.
Yesterday, I went to B&H to find a different bag but wound up sticking with the 9.
I wanted to purposely go light yesterday as we were walking about four to five miles yesterday in Manhattan. I had the 1dsmkII, 70-300 DO IS lens and my Epson p2000 in the bag. My shoulder is hurting today. The bag does become uncomfortable after a while. I would like the strap to be longer. When it is extended to its fullest, the strap is not comfortable below the buckle.
I might add that I'm in shape, I weightlift on a regular basis and do cardio. I add this comment to let you know that if the bag hurt my shoulder, it is not because I'm a slouch. I prefer a waist bag, but the only ones that will fit the 1 series are just too bulky.

I own the Volocity 9 and carried it around for 2 1/2 hours with the EF 28-135mm IS on my 20D w/ power grip, a 17-35mm Tamroc, 580EX flash, a small tripod, 2 sets of batteries for the flash, 2 spare batteries for the camera, double charger , dc-coupler and all cables, wire remote, filters, 1.4 converter, manuals for camera and flash. I cannot say that this bag is uncomfortable, with this load it is so far the best bag I ever had on my shoulder. I like the quick access and the safe hold even the bag is open. If I have to travel light I use the digital convertible (Model 5674).

I also own the Velocity 9. I was out this morning for about 2 hours. Inside the bag was a Canon 20D w/Canon 17-40mm F4L attached, a Canon 70-200mm F4L, Canon 50mm F1.8 II, Canon 580EX w/batteries, Sekonic L358 exposure meter, tabletop tripod, extra set of AA batteries, extra BP-511A battery, lens hoods for the 17-40 and the 70-200, Canon remote switch for the camera. Actually the camera and 17-40mm F4L was around my neck most of the time. Like other people have stated, the Velocity 9 does tend to put more strain on one shoulder. I spend more time adjusting it. I haven't tried the waist belt yet, but I imagine it might take some of the pressure off my shoulder. Has anybody used the belt yet? I also have a Velocity 7, which is too small and a Lowepro Mini-Trekker AW. I too like the quick access this bag offers. That's why I bought in the first place.

I own a 9 & have found the load out to be very comfortable. I shoot with a 350XT plus battery grip. Sigma 50-500DG & kit lens along with other necessities.
