I just upgraded from CS2 to CS3 on a windows XP system. With CS2, if I had made a selection of part of an image, and copied that into a new layer, I could then use the "Move Tool" to click on that part wthin the image, which would then select the appropriate copied along with displaying the transform handles so that I could rotate or scale the copied section. Now when I try to do that in CS3, it won't select the new copied section unless I go to the layer palette and select it there. And even then, it does not display the transform handles unless I use the pull down menu to select Edit-Transform. Is there something configurable I can change to make CS3 behave like CS2 when selecting items from within an image and displaying the transform handles versus going to the palette and pull down menus? Help !!

For me, it never displayed the transform handles when I moved a layer.
If I understand correctly, you want to use the move tool to move a part of an image and it will automatically select the layer that part of the image is on?
What you need to do is this:
Click the move tool, then go here and check the red boxes I outlined for you:

Now try!

Duh....I see it now, the checkbox at the top of the screen to show the transform handles. I'm good at missing the obvious. Thanks !!
