Its one of the best you've posted so far. I love the way the light reflection contrasts with the dark blue of the water.

You obviously have a much better 'eye' for a shot than I do, very good shot.

This is a much more interesting rendition of the same subject in your "temptation" posting. Nice lighting and cropping.

Glad you like it. Without explanation I wouldn't even know what it is!

Who cares what it is......its a beautiful composition & display of light. Well balanced with off-center focus point.... nice....

It is REALLY nice. I have to say that the first thing that catched my eye is the overexposure in that corner. I understand that you wanted that to be VERY bright but too much of it is overexposed in my opinion. If it were just a tiny corner that were blown out, it would be nicer.

Above comment is if you were really looking for criticism and from someone who doesn't know too much.

I'm not so sure...I think any less exposure of that one corner and he'd lose the balance....

You are right, but I still would favor less overexposure in that corner. Maybe if the picture had been undereposed it could have been fixed the way that I would like it, however once it is white, there is no going back.

True.... and its hard to tell with a web-jpg. but it looks like it might not actually be totally blown out...it looks rather golden and not totally white..

Why don't feel the photo as a whole?

I agree .. this is its (or the camera's) shortcoming. Use of the histogram would have saved the highlights but wold have required some recovery of the darkside.

I like it.This picture has a lot going for it that compensates for the little over exposure. :)

I'm with you jim jam... Who's to say that a little over-exposure is a bad thing anyway? ...I'm going to hear it for this one aren't I? ...So what if one little corner of the image has all visual data blown out? Does a painter always make sure that every bit of canvas has data on it?
:)

Well I might have agreed a year ago. But my G2 has a histogram. I am not sure what camera was used here. Of course bracketing the shot wass another option. Finally the light may be beyond the scope of the camer and here we seem to be close to mid-day.

Not also that at this small scale is not a major flaw... but at 16 by 20 and on paper .. it may seem more problematic. Anyway, the same "flaw" has detracted from my own images, so my comment is from the heart!

PS: See over exposure in my own image of a similar "spot": http://members.rogers.com/hleigh/SAGUENAY%20FJORD.jpg

Yeah, I know that overexposure is generally a 'bad' thing.... all data is lost... poor use of the histogram, etc, etc..... but when getting more creative & abstract, as this shot does... who are we to say to the artist, "oops you made a mistake, you over exposed." We would not say to a painter.... "ooops you should have painted in that spot over there." After all, we're not talking about a formal portrait here.

Ok,Ok.... I know I'm pushing it a little bit... Yes, my 10D has a histogram too and I use it all the time to prevent blown highlights and under exp... but I'm just trying to push our box out a little bit I guess, by saying that just maybe, the artist intended for that one corner to be void of digital data. :?:

OK, I agree with you, but I don't think the overexposure looks good. Its not the lack of data that bothers me.

Ok. :) You're allowed to not like it I suppose.
