I just recently picked up my 10D last month. It came with the newest bios, no problems. I love this camera!

few months ago i had a problem with the 10D. The shutter would freeze after the first click of the shutter sequence, and the camera was freezing with an err99 message. could only unfreeze by rebooting the camera.
i sent it back to canon, and they changed the shutter mechanism. The camera at this time didnt even have 5000 shutter cycle.

I've had my 10D since October last year and never had any problems with it.
Note, if you ask a question like this, and people who did have problems will answer it, it will look like a lot of 10D's have problems, and you might start thinking it's a problem camera - but you should keep in mind that probably 99% of the owners didn't have any problems with it.

In theory. I just want feedback to know what to expect. I wont be throwing it down stairs or anything so I couldnt expect any issues like that but I would just like to know what some known issues are. Thanks for everyone feedback.

I had some power consumption problems during the fall. I'd charge up the batteries, the camera would indicate that they were fully charged and then the next morning the camera would indicate a half charge or it'd be dead. I sent it off to Canon Canada where they "found nothing", yet when I got it back it was like it was a new camera. It'd run all day and I haven't had a power problem since. I don't know if the technician at Canon Canada just didn't indicate his fix, or if CC is trying to hide something that could turn into a product recall.
The biggest problem though, is the poor performance to the E-TTL. It works, it doesn't work and it's inexplicable. Hopefully E-TTL will work better (how could it be worse?) but based on a couple of posting here recently I don't have much hope.

I haven't had any real problems to speak of except that my interest (and spending) in photography has now taken a considerably larger amount of time than it did in the past. The camera has performed reliably and admirably.
Dave has a point about the E-TTL flash system. I haven't shared much trouble with it, though it can be unpredictable at times (and to be fair, I don't use a lot of flash). The best advice I can give on that is to make yourself aware on how the system functions (especially in relation to how it biases flash exposure with active focus point) and use FEC when you see the need for it.
