A couple of pics I took over the past few days while visiting Algonquin Park with Marc aka Blackburnian. The few Gray Jays we came across were all banded. Appears there is a study of sorts going on? Thank you for viewing.

Great image of a species I have yet to see.
First one's a real winner.

Looks like a perfect exposure to me----rich colors for a gray jay---maybe I prefer # 1 to #2 but both are wonderful!

Agreed on #1, he just looks so majestic in that pose. Very nice.

These are all excellent Rick (and Algonquin Park is a great place to go shooting too).

Very nice captures Rick. The first shots I got of this species were last January when it was -30 degrees centigrade. It must have been warmer for you.

They've been banding Gray Jays at Algonquin Park for a good while now. Seems the park's population has been in steady decline over the years...hence the studies.
Nice shots, with the greenery providing a nice backdrop in the first two shots.

Nice work. I really like the first two. Not a species that you see everyday. I'd love to see one.

Rick, very fine images of this little beauty. We don't get him this far south, which is too bad, cause it's a nice looking bird. I think the first shot is my favorite of the four. :)

Very nicely done. I like the fact that your style includes the subject's environment, it really adds to the capture. #1 is a classic pose with nice colour and focus. But I am going to stray from popular consensus and give my nod to #2 since it captures this bird's gorgeous tail feathers exceptionally well. Nice work.
