I'm looking to start a website for some part time work. I read the other post about the guy who didnt think sites were worth it, and I totally disagree. I would like some advice from the experts out there on the best hosts/servers/designs. Where can I get the best bang for my buck? Anyone who has a site, I'd love to see it and compare. Thanks!

I know these two hosts are really good:

I don't know any designers.

pickpic.com is the best photoshopping cart, there are cheaper ones but Pickpic is #1 quality.

I've started a home page HERE (http://home.comcast.net/~fcizek/) at Comcast, that's linked to a Printroom "Sell" site through www.frankcizek.com.
I'll also be linking to a www.JAlbum.net gallery (ExhibitPlus skin) soon. JAlbum offers a lot of free options, some with shopping cart features.

If you want your site to be an important part of your marketing/advertising efforts make sure that the company or person you use has search engine optimization (SEO)capability. There are many companies that are based on efficiency and can create a great looking site but don't get into the SEO aspect. If you're well established and don't need search rankings for new business, it probably doesn't matter. But if you need your website to be a profit center it is worth considering.

I use GoDaddy for hosting with Coppermine powering my gallery. As part of my hosting package with GoDaddy, I received Coppermine for free and I didn't have to become involved with installation.

You could also use Exposure Manager or SmugMug if you're selling photos.
