Our new field is great w/out flash but still challenging. I tried using flash (1st time) at a poor lighting field this past Friday with terrible results? I did set to H/S sync..1st pic is w/out flash at our home field last week(new stadium-great lighting)and 2nd is using flash(away game-poor lighting) ISO 1000 and 1250. I do keep forgetting to remove the 1.4 tele as night progresses to get the additional full stop :( I just hate losing the additional range on the field.

I would leave the flash at home and just up the ISO. A monopod is very helpful also if you are not always using one.

Yep... loose the flash. Never have liked the look. Just a personal thing. Some like it.

So for when shooting night football with flash I should probably get a "flash bracket" to reduce the redeye? Also, I forgot to remove the 1.4 tele which I should probably do to get the 2.8 aperature huh...

Yes, a bracket is the solution for redeye. I'd suggest reading this thread... http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=375847

Thanks Convergent, yes I have seen and read that thread already. In fact..that was what had inspired me to shoot with flash the last time out. This week is at home with great lighting but I would still like to bring along flash to try to become more familiar with it. I guess I shouldn't be using hss also.
