I have a slide that I made a copy of with my 300D. It is about 15 years old and I would like to save it. On the slide there are dark areas(heat damage?) that I would like to remove. How can I do this with PE2?

Can you post the image? Also, a photographed copy is ok but there is going to be reflection on the photographed copy. A scanned copy would be much better.
Post the image regardless and we'll see what we can do.

I opened the image in photoshop and noticed that the image is pixalated at 60%. It wasn't until viewing at 50% that the fractals were hard to see. However, the image isn't of much use at that size.
The dark areas that you mentioned can be fixed but like I said, at 100% viewing the image is in a bad state.
I suggest you scan the image at 300 dpi. You'll have much more to work with and will be able to print a half decent 4x6 at the very least.
The area's that are dark, I would probably try the dodge tool and clone in area's that needed rebuilding. You can crop the left side from the image removing the dark spot on the left, thus just leaving the dark on the right, making for a little different composition and less to repair. Play with the levels, even give the auto a shot. This will definately brighten it up a touch.

Thanks. I am having my slides professionally done in the next couple of weeks. I will have more to work with when they are all finished.
