Anyone using this with an EX flash in a wireless setup? I'm not sure if this works with small flashguns or only with studio strobes.

I just ordered myself, in the process of piecing together the components. Once upon a time I had a link to all the parts necessary but have misplaced.

My goal for these was to use with a pair of 550EX's I own for a more portable and battery operated system when the situation calls for it. (I have studio lights and backdrops etc but want something I can very quickly setup without any cords on the floor which is always a concern for me)

I'm planning on triggering with my Pocket Wizard Mutli-Max so I've also ordered cables from www.paramountcords.com (Miniphone to Hot Shoe Female (1 ft straight).

I'll post my results once I've got it all put together.

PS I am triggering via pocket wizard as I don't like the line of sight requirement of the infrared. Also distance limitation was an issue at times.

I own two PW Multimax's and triggering via L358 works like a charm. I do like the Canon IR though since I can control everything from the camera. You don't need LOS within a room environment for IR to work, you just need the ability to get a bounced signal. I've placed a backlight 580 behind a couch and it fires just fine utilizing IR.

Key with PW's is the distance one can get away from one's camera vs the flashes. The flash operating distance is within IR range (ie flashes are well within Camera location for appropriate lighting). One would need pretty unique/extreme lighting scenarios to require the PW's over IR. Not saying it can't happen, but I believe rare.

Paramount cords is where I purchased my hotshoe cables for the PW's.

Agreed that InfraRed is great for remote control of flash settings. Not knocking it at all. Just I find myself in situations where I feel constrained on occasion by it. As such, I wanted to have the capability of using them with the 550's if needed. I would expect that many times the pocketwizards will not be required.
