Today is my daughter's 5 month "birthday". She is close to being weened...thought we would get some "last time" pictures of her breast feeding...
I thought this shot was particularly suited to a "Charcoal Sketch"-type look...obviously photoshopped...but I think it's a keeper.
Obviously some jpg artifact on the text, etc...
C&C welcome!:)

Looks like a PDA example of one of those crappy photo sketch booths in malls.
Personally I wouldnt keep it if it were photoshopped like that. COR NEE

YOW!
Well, I asked for it...:)
In a way, you have validated that I achieved what I was after.
Corny? I can see that. It might be corney to me if I had no personal attachment to the participants depicted...maybe...
The flip-side to that coin is that every once in a while a bit of corniness helps serve as a diversion from many of the "harsh realities" we face on a daily basis.
Appreciate your candor though...that's why I posted...
Cheers,
Mike

YEa I hate being harsh, thats just what it reminded me of...
I know you have personal attachments to the subjects, I have no problem with them at all, the shot appears great, its just the effect im not so sure about.
:)
If you like it go for it.

No worries! :D
I know exactly what you are getting at.
The original was OK. I think it'll work better as a monochrome...

My issue with the original was the shallow DOF to the right and bottom of the frame. The effect minimizes that issue, (among other things).
I suspect that I'll be playing around with this photo for a while...
Thanks again,
Cheers,

I don't think it's that bad, and I do think Chicken enjoys being harsh (otherwise, why do it?). I'd eliminate the nondescript blob on the right, though. In the sketch I can't begin to tell what it is.

Nice thought! I agree--it works better this way.
Thanks!

I do NOT like being harsh! :p Hehe, since alot of people find only the good, that doesnt help people improve whatsoever. I find it more useful to point out all the bad AND all the good. So that they know what to keep and what to fix the next time around.

:-) I've often been accused of the same. It's probably true in my case.
