The Great Forest Park Balloon Race – 2007

I’m always open to learn more so comments and critique will be greatly appreciated.

I went down to the Great Forest Park Balloon Race on Saturday and it was really a sight to see! If I recall correctly, the announcer said there were over 70 balloons taking off Saturday afternoon. For about 2 hours it was a photo feeding frenzy.

The Energizer Bunny Balloon launches first.

Once the Bunny Balloon is on it’s way, the rest of the balloons start the process of launching and preparing to give chase.

A full sky – 24mm just doesn’t give you a good idea of how may balloons were in the sky.

I've seen 75 in the air at one time, it is amazing. Today I went to a local balloon event myself, only 21 balloons. Your shots are great.

The 4th one is my favorite as well, nicely done! For some reason the 5th one looks kind of cleavagy...but maybe it is just getting late:o

I grew up less than 30 miles from Forest Park; never knew or heard of this balloon race (but then, I've been gone for 30+ years, too).

I too like the 4th one best, but the 3rd one with all the balloons in the sky is impressive in a different way.

Thanks Suzy - I had a great day, it wasn't too hot, the sky was fairly clear and I was out taking pictures. It doesn't get much better than that :)

I think this was the 35th Annual event, so you may have left about the time it was getting started. I'm going to print both 3 & 4 later today - I think these will look good on the wall.

Thanks Frank. The bunny was HUGE! The announcer told us it is bigger than the Statue of Liberty. Now that's a big bunny. :lol:
