I came across this thread (http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/113284) on FM forum, very interesting, also got me worriying, since i just bought a 1D(haven't got it yet) and i currently own a 550EX.

I'd like to hear what 1D owners think of 550EX on the camera, have you had similar problems? or other problems? how did you solve it? is Metz 54 really that good on a 1D? worth getting it n ditch 550EX?

thanks folks

I'm not going to say there is noi issue.. but .. I mean c'mon.. there must tens of thousands of PJs out there that have been using the 550 on the 1D for the last three years... :?

One lesson I've learned .. never go out looking for a problem before one actually comes your way. If you spend all your time reading about such issues you are almost guarantreed to force this "issue" to manifest itself through your own paranoia...

Just do a search on "10D focus issue" and see what comes up

hehe, i've done that when i started to doubt my 10D's focus accuracy, it was ridiculous how many results returned ...

well, i'll test it out once i get it.

if you follow the rules of the 550EX and ETTL you'll be fine. It's a great, professional flash.

thanks, i'll read the manual carefully and learn it(once i get it).

i guess it's just the excitment unsettling in my bloody, the urge to hold one, especially you know it's yours, just haven't arrived it yet.

okay, i'll stop n try to behave normally

From my 1D experience, the 550EX and the 1D don't always work well together. Even with all settings in full manual, I'd over expose 1 out of every 5-10 shots I'd take in a controlled shoot. Partly an ETTL problem, partly a camera problem I think. MarkII fixs those issues and use ETTL correctly.
