Why would anyone want leather chairs when there is camera gear to buy? :p

I also love and tenderly care for my cast iron skillets. A good cared for and seasoned cast iron skillet is more stick free than Teflon any day providing there is a bit of fat or oil in the pan.

Not much... A AAA should be sufficient :D
Just one? Is that for a single flash, then toss the battery? I tried loading up the AA battery holder for my 20D's grip once (alkalines though, not NiMH or Lithium). I only got three or four shots out of it before I was out of juice. No onboard flash either, but I don't remember what lens I was using at the time. It may have been using IS.

Speaking of buying stuff......
Wade and I have our birthdays in the same month, so we usually go in together and get something we both want. (I know there was talk about that earlier... it means we're old, right? :p)
Anyway, this weekend, we got a set of stainless steel/copper bottom cookware.
We have bought probably 4 different pot/pan sets since we got married. Teflon just doesn't last. But we had a Stainless Steel frying pan that we were given as a wedding gift that we still have, and love.
SO we decided enough is enough! No more teflon in this house. !!
I LOVE them. Beautiful.
OF COURSE.... just to clarify for Kody.... what we spent on cookware wouldn't have been enough to get ANY camera gear that we don't already have. So the choice was easy. :p
Really :rolleyes:go get yourself a good bean bag at a yard sale;)
I have a little All-Clad fetish:oops:
In reply to all you nay sayers... the wife does not share my love of photography.. YET! >:( That being said, she's obviously going to be more interested in buying something to round out the seating options in the livingroom, over me getting a 17-40. Believe me, I'd much rather being buying gear. Remember though, I am still somewhat newly married. We have not acquired all the wonderful things you all have, so I don't have extra monies to be getting camera stuffs all that often.
Thanks for tuning in.

My "couch" is a $300 futon that opens up into a Full bed, big enough for me, two kittehs and Ashley to sleep on.

Nah, the battery could likely be used hundreds of times. The flash only requires a tiny jolt to get it going. You're forgetting these are single use items. They burn (very quickly, very brightly and very hotly) instead of storing up a high voltage charge, bridging the gap and discharging through xenon gas. No charging capacitors, no huge expenditure of energy. Just a simple small spark. Even static electricity can set the bulb off.
(eta) Your camera eats AA's for breakfast because of the image sensor... Takes a lot of energy to run such a chip. I have a P&S that could get through 10 shots on a standard alkaline battery, and that was it!

We have not acquired all the wonderful things you all have,
All our furniture, except for a few inherited antiques, is used crapulence. Tell your wife she is getting a bean bag and you are getting glass. Promise to take a picture of a leather couch for her;).
Now that we are on the topic of talking to your spouse, I have a question. Leyla is getting a brake controller wired into her Jeep so she can pull the horse trailer when I am not available. I said we should test drive it around before she puts horses in it. I suggested she ride in the trailer so we could see how it pulls with weight on it. Was that the wrong thing to say:lol:? Not forgetting... I missed that little detail! I shoulda known, though. My Brownie is even older than that. One bulb at a time in this one, baby. I still remember the two little wires that stuck out the back end of the bulb, one folded over onto each side of it, even though I haven't seen one of those bulbs in nearly 40 years! I have the camera right here next to my desk, though...

they were some of the items that "accidentally went to the dump" before I could get back to get them. (you wouldn't believe all the things that "accidentally went to the dump"- I am tempted to think that I would locate some of them if I visited the homes of the "friends" I paid to help me.) Some of them had been around since I was a kid. I loved my cast iron and my copper clad. used them more often than my calaphon. I went through 3 full sets of pots and a few pieces plus 7 cast iron pieces to 1 large stew pot, a 4 qt pot, a small pan and a warped skillet- all cheapos packed in my "gotta pick up and go NOW" boxes.

The LCD screen on the back tends to eat the batteries much more than the sensor. At least that's what I found with my Olympus P&S. It would go on for ages without the LCD on. Use the LCD, I was changing batteries for a pasttime.

transfer all stacks to pretty baskets then wait for that to start freaking you out. then you can move back to stacks or find another temporary solution. Sometimes you need to employ an eclectic approach and do a some of each. ;):lol:

I have sent more than one stack flying over the years. :) The kids all know when I have had my fill of their stacks in my space. I guess I give off some kind of warning signal  They have gotten pretty good at confining their stacking sickness to their bedrooms :)THe boys' dad was a stacker. I thought I got rid of all my stacking problems by going to the root. Apparently it was contagious. I'm now somewhat afflicted so I make sure my furniture does double duty. . . for example, my end tables are really cool wooden file boxes on wrought iron stands. My place is too small to waste space sos things must do duoble duty when possible (although still look ~wu)

'Tis my mom's fault I am a stack-o-phobe.
She stacks EVERYTHING. When mom and dad had a house fire a few years back, we went to help them clear out some things so repairs could begin.
In my mothers front room, under the end table; magazines. From the 70's

What Ms. Permie seems to be forgetting is the whole concept of payback.
One must be careful when not familiar what others may have in their arsenal of unflattering shots before they tread into such territory. Just saying.

The lens I had on there is the 400 f/5.6. It has a built in lens hood. True, I don't use the lens hood very often, but I try to make sure I have the hood attached backwards on the lens in case I do need it (to defeat lens flare). With a CP on, I don't use the lens hood as the hood gets in the way of "dialing" the CP to appropriate "strength". In the above pics, we were on our way to photograph some kite surfers on the Columbia and I wanted to use the CP. There wasn't much sun out, so the CP really didn't make much of a difference.

Yep, I've gone to all cast iron for my cook pans.
Depending what I am making, I like a pan sauce, so my stainless skillets get a lot of use. Truth is I like to deglaze the pan with a bit of Madeira or sherry. I dip the pan to catch the flame from the burner and get that great big fire ball as the alcohol burns off. It is a way to play with fire while cooking:D
