Very cool :) I was very happy with my A620 when I only had that. I learned a lot on that thing, once I got to the point I was using full manual mode and started wanting to do more I jumped up. I wish my dad had put photography in front of me more when I was younger. I think the film made it more expensive though. Part of the fun and the stuff I enjoy is editing in PS.

My grandmother offered to pay for me to spend a week at Disney World. I'll probably only be staying at a hotel there for one or two nights at the most, and spend the rest of the nights in The Villages at her place (which was her whole reason for making the offer in the first place).
That sounds cool Lonnie, would be a great visit.
I made this when I was in Coasta Rica this summer.

Well, we are going to finalize our plans real soon, but it seems we are headed for New Jersey to visit Lisa's brother and family on the 27th of December, returning 8-10 days later. We will go skiing one day (their kids race), go in to New York City for a couple days, and do what ever else we come up with for the remainder of the time. Between the four plane tickets and a car rental, I will end up doing major damage to my travel reward miles, but I guess this is why we have them. :)

It is expensive, but Lisa is worth it. We are only staying one night and it is off season right now, between the summer and ski season crowds.

It is about 2 hours west. Here is another shot I took from far away while at the ski hill last spring. You can see the lake and glacier in the distance.

This weekend I am taking Lisa out to the Chateau Lake Louise.

I think Chateau Lake Louise is photographed as much as Neuschwanstein Castle (sp?). Both are gorgeous, the latter I have photographed about 25 years ago, in the winter. Side trip when I took a ski trip to Innsbruk, Austria.

I just wish Lisa would look in her in basket in her office, I put the hotel confirmation in there. She does not yet know we are going, I sure hope she agrees to it.

Well, I Ashley proofed the apartment and car today (except for all the hair on Ellen's interior -- she needs to be detailed now). I tossed what was left of her food and treats (no Frosty Paws were harmed -- she had the last one I had in the freezer the night before and I hadn't resupplied yet). The baggies for picking up after her have also been tossed. So has the brand new "welcome mat" I bought when we moved in here. It was shaped like a dog bone and said "Woof!" and I didn't need that there any more. I bought a replacement for it today.

I did keep her collapsible bowls that we hiked and traveled with, her halter, collar and leash. I also kept all of her bandannas -- for now. I'm going to have my favorite photo of her printed at 20x30, then matted and framed, and construct some kind of memorial in her memory on the wall by my futon/bed. I'll use some of these things to drape across the frame, or tack to the wall around it. I doubt I'll use all of the bandannas (she had about 40 or 50!), and I have no idea what I'll do with everything I don't end up using. I may keep them. I may throw them away. Or, I may even give them away. Anyone here who wants a bandanna of hers is more than welcome to whatever I end up having left.

Now, I'm going to rewrite that bio and get working on the web page I want to create in her honor. Then, I'll work on the memorial for my wall...

It's been exactly one week to the day (actually, I think to the hour) since I found her dead. It doesn't seem like it could possibly be that long! Sigh...

I think I'm already well on my way past the sorrow stage and into the memories. I still cry occasionally (I am as I type this, actually), but it's starting to hurt less and less. I'm kind of looking forward to next week or the week after. The pet hospital I took her body to said it would take two to three weeks before they would have her ashes ready for me to pick up. I can't wait. I want her back home again, even if it's only in a small box.

Definetly will find a way to meet up if we are there at the same time.

I've never been there before, they have lived there for at least 15 years now too. We usually see them every time we go to Ottawa, where Lisa and here brother are from.

We will have to get together if you are only an hour away, not sure what our schedule will be like, but it will get firmed up towards the time we leave. We will absolutely have to get together, we'll even get Deb to come along as she is close as well.

Have you priced hotels for your nyc stay?? Its downright scary I tell ya especially that time of year. There is a nice Hilton here by me that is much more reasonable and will take you into the city via van and probably pick you back up if you like, I live moments from the George Washington Bridge which takes you into Manhattan.

Well, we are going to finalize our plans real soon, but it seems we are headed for New Jersey to visit Lisa's brother and family on the 27th of December, returning 8-10 days later. Some quick shots of my new toy. Can't wait for the weekend to try it out. It looks out of place in our back yard, needs water bad.

Very nice Jim, how is the balance when you have to portage her? And yes, she needs to be in water. Be sure to let us see how she looks on Lake Louise.

Oh and everyone recounted every pet they had ever had or known. I think your wife said she had a dog you hated but don't remember.

I forgot to do that. There was Lady a collie that they had to give away as she tried to nip me when I started to crawl to people. She was fine when they came to me, but; she didn't like it when I started going to them.

Jinx, well that is a long story, with a rather happy ending I'll tell in a bit. (Hint...National Lampoon's Vacation).

Whiskers a black and white cocker, who suddenly got noise shy, ran off one 4th of July and was hit by a car. I cried for days when we lost him, so did my mom. We swear he saved my mom from a home intrusion at one point. So guy came to the door wanting a hand out. Mom kept the screen door between her and him, when she told him to be on his way, he started to reach for the door handle and Whiskers came out from behind mom, teeth bared. The guy quickly went on his way.

Bo, short for Beuregard, mixed breed, we lost as a puppy when he ran between the wheels of a delivery truck.

Spot an English Pointer that my dad inherited from a hunting buddy. That dog was a great hunter. Problem was he didn't hunt in the same field as my dad did. We ran him down more times than I can remember. The best story I remember, we were cleaning out his dog house one spring. We had him tied to a post with quite a bit of lead. He was lying right next to the post when a rabbit ran out in front of him. Spot took out after that rabbit, hit the end of his lead and snaped a 2 inch heavy leather collar without so much as breaking his stride. I think it took us kids an hour to run him down on that juant. We gave him to a friend who had inherited his sister, when we moved from Michigan, in the country, to Illinois, in town.

Then my brother and I bought a liver colored full blood Britiney Spaniel, Freckles. We had him for 15 years before we had to put him down. Even C.J. got to live with him for a few years, after my divorce and I moved back with my parents. He was even with us for a couple of years after my dad died.

Then came Tasha a black cocker spaniel that had the brains bred out of her. She was a Jeykel and Hyde if ever there was one. She stayed with mom after Curt and I were married.

Curt brought Myra into our marriage. Great frisbee dog,she was an Australian Shepherd and would help bring the cows in. Settled right into city life when we left the farm. She came down with some kind of cancer. The day we knew we had to put her down, we went and adopted Bear a mix between collie and shepherd, we think. We have had him 11 years now. He is getting stiffer when he gets up and losing some pigment in his nose and around one eye. That same eye is getting pretty cloudy as well. I suspect he will leave us before too many more years. Worthless bag of hair who has filled our hearts.:D

She rambled off a bunch, but I know Wicked is near the top of the list.

One of my top favorite shows (ref: my avitar). Highly recommend you see it. BUT, if your read the book first you'll wonder how the heck they made it into a musical. The book is very dark...the musical is not and at best "loosely" based on the book.

I asked our choir director for the "O Holy Night" solo for this year's Christmas Cantata tonight, that or the solo in the song preceeding it. I really hope I get "O Holy Night", I've always wanted that solo and it was my dad's favorite Christmas Hymn.

This canoe will be a breeze to portage. It is 17'-6" long and weighs exactly 40 lbs, even with the solo seat in (it can be removed). I most definitely will take some shots at Lake Louise.

The story of Jinx, that my mother told me after I had her watch National Lampoon's Vacation...I told her how funny that most everything but the dog and the dead Aunt had happened to us at one time or another on our family vacations. To which she replied...well, the dog part happend to us:shock:

Jinx was a pekinese we had when I was about 4. Seems we were getting ready for vacation. Mom had my oldest brother cleaning out the rabbit hutch while she was packing stuff into the car before picking up dad from work. Well, my brother screams...I've killed them. Mom had Jinx on a leash and fastened it to the bumper before running to see what my brother was screaming about. Seems the rabbits had babies unbeknowst to us and Rod inadvertently dumped them down the river bank with the hutch bedding. They weren't dead and mom retrieved them, along with some of the nesting material and put them back in the hutch with clean bedding.

She the loaded us all in the car and we were on our way. She had forgotten about Jinx.:o:cry: When she remembered she pulled over and got out, but no Jinx, no leash, nothing. She got back in the car didn't say a thing to us kids, went back to the house looking for poor Jinx...nothing. So we picked up dad and went on vacation. She of course told my dad and must have felt sick the entire vacation.

When we got back, one of the women that worked with my dad was asking him how he enjoyed vacation, yadda, yadda...then dad asked her how she was getting along after loosing her pekinese a few weeks prior. She proceed to tell my dad how a little stray had shown up in her neighbor hood the same day we left for vacation, we drove through her neighborhood before we picked up dad to go on vacation. That the poor little thing's paw pads were all abraised. Dad asked "like it had been dragged?" She said, "yes, exactly". Dad never said another word and Jinx as far as I know lived a pampered life with her.:D Dad and mom could not bring themselves to tell her how Jinx had ended up in her neighborhood or even think about asking for Jinx back.

Oh and everyone recounted every pet they had ever had or known. I think your wife said she had a dog you hated but don't remember.
Not exactly everyone...I realized after reading Becky's stories that I had not told my short tales

My first dog I can remember was named Midnight, so named because he was all black with a white stipe on his chest. Got him as a puppy on a birthday and was excited about having a dog. I think he was a mutt, but in the pictures my grandmother has Midnight looks like a Lab. Anyhow, my father got transferred for his job away from the family in my home town. I really don't remember what happend to Midnight and have not really asked my parents, but what ever town we moved to when my Dad was transferred was where I lost Midnight. I don't know if he died or ran away....the only thing I have in my head as the last memory was seeing Midnight dead under the swings in a nearby park....but I think that was just a nightmare brought about by not having him around.

The second dog I had was named Melissa, she was a mutt. She was a stray that we found one day wandering the neighborhood. My brother and I began to play with her and she never left. She disappeared one day...never to be seen again. Suspect maybe the pound picked her up as she had a habit of getting out of the yard.

Then next dog we had is named Daisy; she is my sisters dog. We got her from my Aunt who had a pure bred Shar-pei that mated with a black mutt that wandered the neighborhood we lived in. So yeah, she was black with a white chest and socks on two feet. We had her as a puppy and about 1 year later she ran away. Everyone was sad that she ran away and we tried for a few months to look for her, even taking weekly trips to the pound just in case. Then one day...Daisy showed up on the porch:shock: She was still wearing the same collar and 'Daisy' tag. I think it had been almost a year that she was gone; give or take a few months. Anyhow, my sister still has Daisy...though she is no longer black and white....she is now more faded brown and white. Daisy is old...my sister has had her about 14 years....minus the time she disappeared

During the time that I lived at home, I began dating my wife, then girlfriend when her father got a chihuahua puppy. I named the chihuahua Gizmo cause of the color of his coat and his ears for his tiny little head. Since she got a puppy and Daisy was feeling lonely and needed a friend...I got the urge to get a puppy of my own. One day, a former co-worker was selling puppies for $5 each and I picked one up. It was a mutt that looked like it had some Rat Terrier in him. This puppy was named Jake. Jake was a fun dog to have with one minor draw back. For some reason, he got scared when someone walked towards him or scolded him and he would run the other way drizzling pee all over the place...including some carpeted rooms:evil:. Jake went with me to Colorado when he was a pup one year to visit my Dad...he loved the snow. Well, when I got married, we could not have a dog...Gizmo stayed with my inlaws and Jake with my mom and Daisy. Over the years, Jake developed a fear of noise during the 4th of July and New Years. No matter where he was at, he always got away from my mothers house...as she refused to listen to me to lock him up in the garage so he would not run off. Well, some time last year after lots of fireworks...Jake ran off...this time he did not return:cry:. I don't know what happened to him, but I like to think he found a good home. Jake could play fetch for hours on end...he even thought I was going to play fetch with him when I would peel an orange

Next is Dora...shes an overweight chihuahua that my wife spontaniously bought as a puppy when we moved into our last house. She was upset that my father in law would not let Gizmo live with us so she rebelled by buy her own chihuahua...sheesh..that'll teach my father in law:rolleyes:. Anyhow, Dora is not your typical chihuhua...she is way too nice...never barks at anyone and any stranger can come to the house and she'll lay on her back to be rubbed on the belly.

So in comes Joshua...who you all met last month :). Joshua was picked up from the ADL because my wife wants a large(ish) dog that will be the guard dog when we are not home; there have been a rash of breakins around here where I live outside the city. He already has the barking at everyone down...so hopefully he will not be like Dora and lay on his back for anyone to rub his belly if an unknown person comes here.

No cats since I'm allergic, but I've had a few fish here and there...only 5 or 10 gallon tanks though.

Becky N

There were a smattering of other pets in between all the above. A camelion, some hampsters, a guinea pig, a couple of cats brought in to rid the house of mice, they didn't do so well in their job assignments, finches and fish. I remember one of the cats was named Big Bad John. The folk song was popular at the time.

C.J. also had a guinea pig from Santa one year, in February, there were three more. Santa kinda goofed and brought us a pregnant female. They are cute buggers as babies.

One weekend camping trip we took the hampsters with us. They were in their cage on top of the camp kitchen, when one evening an owl swooped down and tried to nab the cage. Funniest thing we had seen, though I don't think the hamsters found any humor in the situation. We covered the cage with a towel and all was well.

One weekend camping trip we took the hamsters with us. They were in their cage on top of the camp kitchen, when one evening an owl swooped down and tried to nab the cage. Funniest thing we had seen, though I don't think the hamsters found any humor in the situation. We covered the cage with a towel and all was well.
:lol: Hold up, you took your hampsters camping:confused:

Whats up with dogs running off on the fourth of July? I have heard that a lot. I guess they aren't hunting dogs eh? Jinx has been to the mall for fire works many years.
Don't know...but I have friends that have dogs that do the same thing.

Not catching up. Not squished.

Urggh. My turn.

Mystery Bug (TM) has decided it needs to take residence in me for a while. Came home and promptly got a fever. Got up to check something out w. christopher wife was worried about, felt light-headed. Had to make a quick jog to the bathroom. felt light-headed again. Finally decided a doctor visit is in order... of course, the fever breaks while I wait at the docs office.

1) Light-headedness and stomach issues are apparently an issue with the new med I was prescribed on tuesday. Stay on the lower "intro dose" for a while longer, they tell me.

2) Apparently, I have a sinus infection I never knew about. So, I get the really cool one-a-day antibiotics, and these decongestant horse pills. I can breathe through my nose, and I don't have any sinus pain, but they tell me there is one.

I'm calling this mystery bug, because baby gets an ear infection & cough, wifey gets bronchitis, and I get sinus infection.

It was before they had those food sticks that would last a few days. We were only 12 miles from home, at Warren Dunes, MI. It was with my parents bestest friends and John worked with my dad. It may have been that we were there during part of the week, Dad and John may have gone into work, where Pat, Mom, and us kids stayed in camp and on the beach. Like Cat and her family do.

So yeah, we had the hampsters with us, you got a problem with that *said in drill sargent voice*;)
