oh and look at this...

this is one of Dan's FIRST EVER shots...he'd had his camera for maybe a month...to this day it's one of my favorites (he knew nothing about photoshop or processing so I processed it for him...just found it in my files)

Thanks.

Not sure. I know it's on the way to Lynden, North of Bellingham. It wasn't just one mountain, but a chain of them.... a range of some sort. I'd like to say the Olympic Range, but I'm not sure that's correct.

Sounds like the northern cascades. The olympics would have been SW from Lynden/Bellingham area whereas the NC's would have been east from you if not slightly NE from you.

I like the idea behind the shot but I think the fog kills the shot for some reason. If it were a nice BLUE sky, CPL sky, the yellow and red elements would strike me more me thinks. With the plain gray it kind of brings it down... IMHO.

yes, it was seriously foggy that day.

Dan took it with the old A85. (before we had digital slrs) I love it...and while it could never be printed up huge (4mp camera) I really like it. And my point? It's not the camera, it's the shooter!

Thanks Crissa they are just snaps but a lot of fun for me. I realized I was missing out on the family fun snaps and always shooting for wall hangers and such.

Athena is home though I am not sure how much time she is going to be devoting here. She mentioned being busy and not sure when she would get back on but I cannot speak for her.

I take my camera to the grocery store:rolleyes: Okay maybe not in the store but you better believe it is no farther than the truck. I will take two bodies in all likelihood. If I shoot Maryland racers I am sure The Equiery will publish a few. I am stupid for not getting credentials.

I should take my gear with me more often. Sometimes, even when I do, I forget to use it. Lots of social situations with friends and family I put it away, I think it wears on them to have my camera in their face all the time. :D

I haven't been to the Camel in a while. For some reason, that system keeps losing track of what's new for me, and when I log in it says there are no new messages for me. I gave up trying to figure out on my own what is new and what I've already read...

I couldn't bring myself to open my bag until I got to work, it landed square on the bottom and I knew that was the bottom of the 70-200, my camera body with the 17-55 was higher up in the pack. I put a second insert under the lens after I checked it out.

A pro friend of mine never uses lens caps, this time I think it saved me much anguish.

 I take it off if I am carrying the camera and count on the hood to protect it from dings but I would never let my lens sit and rub against the inside of a pack. Just me and I am the farthest you can get from anal retentive.

I often don't have the cap on when the lens is mounted to my camera and in my bag/pack/case, but the hood is always on. I do this so I can grab it quick to take a shot. When lens is stored with the hood reversed, I always put the lens cap on.
