The Brick

Why is the 24-70 L called The Brick?

BearLeeAlive
23rd of October 2007 (Tue), 15:04
Why is the 24-70 L called The Brick?
Because for it's size, it is quite heavy, being 2.8 glass and all.

Kody, good work on your panning shots, the cars could be going in to the sun maybe?

They weren't panning, I was in a car next to the other cars, we were both moving quite rapidly on the freeway. :)

Why is the 24-70 L called The Brick?
If you could fasten a brick to your 5D it would feel about the same as having the 24-70 fastened to it. it is a very heavy lens.

Well other than getting his head split open in gymnastics Eli had a great day! Mommy has started drinking already...

No stitches and the blood stopped, all good things. A good 1.5 inch head lac but fortunately my boy clots well!

I went looking for Ashley. I had a good idea in mind about what I wanted and searched. All the other dogs I've had before just kind of fell in my lap with no real thought involved.

But, no, I won't be getting another dog. I think I'm done with pets. When my cats are gone, that's it. The only kind of pet I'd ever consider getting again would be fish.

My little visit to ER back in May ran up a tab just short of $11,000. Two months after that day I got a bill in the mail for the $10 copay. I was told by some coworkers with the same plan to expect problems, but it couldn't have gone smoother for me.

Funny you bring up workmans comp Deb, here there are ads running on the radio about workmans comp and making sure you don't see a 'company doctor' so that you don't get denied any claims.

What I hate about insurances...is the fact that they try to change their coverage policies in an attempt to not pay for doctors bills. Case in point, and true story...when my wife was pregnant with Evan...our insurance at the time denied one of her doctors visits because they said that the claim was a 'pre-exsisting' condition. I was fuming when I called the insurance company and demanded to know why a pregnancy was a pre-exisiting condition. The rep said, "Uhhh...I don't know. Let me re-process that claim."

A week before that ER visit I had gone to Urgent Care because of that car accident I was in. I never even received a bill or statement from that visit. Thats like mine. I usually get a $10 bill or no bill but when I least expect it I get a 10% of something huge. I will say I am surprised they have never questioned me getting several opinions on stuff when I thought it necessary

I like that idea. I might do that!

I was also thinking of scattering a very small portion of them at a few places we traveled to together. I can't divvy them up too much, though. It's surprising how small that bag is! I remember thinking the same thing when I got my dad's remains back, and he was a pretty big guy. But, we're something like 90% water, right? I guess there really isn't a whole lot left over when that's gone.

sounds fab!!

Here is what I'm doing tonight at the Majestic Theater (http://www.liveatthemajestic.com/allevents.shtm#alice)-

Orchestra seating- wondering how the stage will be set up.
Supposed to be a costume thing - I will go as an unemployed sociologist.

Yup. I'm excited! I grew up with his stuff and still enjoy it. besides, I've seen Marilyn, so I should see the original shock rocker before either of us die.:D

I'm fine, Kody. How 'bout you?
Funny thing; a show on VHI I fell into a few years ago had Alice on. One of the questions he was asked: 'What band or singer today scares you as a parent?'
His answer: 'Back Street Boys'. :)

Let's see:

Good Panning - check

Nice BG's - check

Composition - double check (every vehicle has space to move into)

Overall - 4-1/2 stars

Awesome job Jamie, I remember it wasn't that long ago you were beating yourself trying to get a decent panning shot, wow, have you got it down now.
What she said^^^
Well other than getting his head split open in gymnastics Eli had a great day! Mommy has started drinking already...

No stitches and the blood stopped, all good things. A good 1.5 inch head lac but fortunately my boy clots well!
I am glad Eli is okay!

Wow! How much did that room cost? With a view like that, it must have been pretty pricey! Gorgeous!
It was pricey, but came with all the trimmings and special treatment. It cost $300, and this is low season right now, between summer and skiing.

Does anyone here know what Danielle's username here on POTN is? She's a 17-year old that used to hang out in the People forum, but I haven't seen her around here lately. She had an avatar that was a closeup of her face, where she was holding up her hand, and written on the hand was "I (heart) POTN" or "I love POTN" or something like that.

She sent me a comment about Ashley on MySpace that I want to add to the POTN part of Ashley's memorial page, but for the life of me I can't remember what her username is here. I've looked through 130 pages (sorted by post count) in the Member list, and can't find her avatar. I did find one very similar, but it isn't her.

Anyway, I'm too embarrassed to admit to her that I forgot who she is on the forum... Here are her self portraits on MySpace (http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=9769624&albumId=0), if it'll help remind you what she looks like.

Love the colours Deb. We don't get that too much in our trees, especially the ones in our forests, which are primarily aspen and poplar, with a bit of birch thrown in.

Hi Miss Terri:) Hope you and your girl are okay.
We pay a lot for insurance but I have no complaints. I see specialists when I choose to, I have the latest best tests and have MRI, CAT, and nuclear imaging results the same day. I feel bad for Mark trying to get answers about how Nathan is walking. I think he said it was 5 weeks to get the test results. My sister lives in UK and is on their health program. She says if you are dying you will get good care but you may die before you get the diagnosis. Deb is so right about having an advocate or at least being your own advocate so you stay in control. Read the fine print and unless you HAVE to for financial reasons don't skimp on insurance.
