OK, in a vain attempt to shift directions.... I will throw cold water on everything by putting up another Puddle Excerpt. This is on the subject of Eating:

So, for a male, between the ages of thirteen and, say, twenty eight (this depends on genetics), eating requires absolutely no finesse. It requires sheer volume. Quantity over quality.

Now, this eating machine, at the peak of his “game”, starts to date. A date, usually, involves eating. The girl will order off of the little kiddy menu, and the guy will order the last half of the regular menu. Their food will arrive at the same time. Her plate will have two or three items weighing a total of five ounces. His plate, or more accurately, plates, will weigh in at the same as a 3.7 liter, V-6 Jeep engine. On top of all this, they will finish at the same time. He will have spotlessly cleaned off every plate of food. She will have finished three of the five ounces, and she will ask for a “doggy bag”.

None of this is big news to anyone. It’s not a secret. What is a secret, however, is what happens when the girl gets home from that date. As soon as the guy drops her off, and he’s gone, she will rip into that “doggy bag” and scarf down the remaining dinner in two bites. Then she will then tear open the ‘fridge and begin a feeding frenzy of any article of food that she finds in there.

You see, the girl is growing just as the boy is growing. The furnace is burning just as hot and fiercely. True, she might not eat as much as the boy, but it’s close. The ploy the girl uses is to make the boy think that she barely eats. The last thing the girl wants is a reputation of slamming down more hamburgers than her boyfriend. Conversely, no boy wants a reputation that his girlfriend eats more hamburgers than him.

The upshot of all this is when a young man and young woman get married, there’s usually quite a learning curve for the man to endure. This learning curve begins when the newlyweds have their first meal during the honeymoon.

They both emerge from their room, both starved and they take a trip to the nearest restaurant. They are seated, scan the menus, and are ready to order.

Him: “Do you want the kiddy menu?”
Her: “What? Huh? Are you joking? I’m hungry here.”
Him: “Oh, yeah. Well, you used to order off of the kiddy m…”
Her: “You are soooo sweet. No, I’ll order off of the ‘Grown Up’ menu.”
Him: “I’m going to have a couple of cheeseburgers, extra fries, vanilla milkshake and a Coke. What are you going to have.”
Her: “Page three. And part of page six.”
Him: “Ha ha. You’re funny. Really, what?”
Her: “Page three. And part of page six. And some appetizers.
Him: “You’re… you’re going to eat all that?”
Her: “Yeah. Why? Gotta problem with that?”
Him: “Uh… no, no. I just didn’t know you could, you know, eat.”
Her: “You’re so silly. If you can’t finish your food, I’ll finish it for you. I always finished Mom and Dad’s dinners. We never had leftovers at home. Ooo, page seven looks good, too.”

What all this means is that the food rationing will be slightly different than what the guy originally thought. While they were dating, the average guy will think that 98-99% of the food in the house will be his, considering that the wife apparently only eats three ounces of food per meal. Now, after the truth come out, it becomes clear to the guy that he will have to share more of the food than he thought. He might wind up only having possession of, maybe, on the outside, only 83% of the food.

That sounds like a good trip. I missed both the "local" ones this year. I'm looking into visiting one or the other next year. Mind you, one is 3 hrs drive away - that's why I put "local" in quotes.

Voted, great image. I am not sure they choose by votes though. Did you see anything that said that for sure? thanks! I think they may look at high vote images first, but most likely their own panel chooses the images. Otherwise bad images with lots of "friend" votes would get published.

Do you say "vite" or "vit" amins? I need it for the file. Everyone else, vit or vite? depends on where I am, whom I am speaking to. I have noticed myself saying vite-amins here recently. But I am fairly sure I was saying vit-amines before.

Life sure is different here in Palmdale than what I've been used to. Two weeks ago I had the air conditioner running 24 hours a day to fight off the 100+ degree heat. This morning I woke up all wrapped up in my sheets and blankets, but still freezing. I got up and stomped over to look at the thermostat. It was 67 degrees in here! The outside temperature was 48! I turned on the heat and went back to bed... I never even had a need for a heater at my old place!

Oh, and the only way I know what the outside temperature was is cuzz I have weather station thingees scattered around here, in all the rooms and out on the balcony. The balcony's is remote and I can read it's results from the one in the living room... ;)

Actually, my head feels like it's on fire right now. I got a tetch o' sunburn yesterday while at the fair.

I was wearing a hat all day on Wednesday at Disneyland, so that wasn't a problem. But, later that night I was chatting with my brother (who has been shaving his head for years), and he warned me about that funky tan line I could get on the back of my head if I wear baseball caps too often. I probably should have also listened to him about that suntan lotion thing, too... LOL

I'm fickle. I'll probably be back eventually. One day when I get really bored at work...

Seriously, though. That sudden explosion of posts kinda scared me.

You forget the RRTP of old...we often had crazy bursts of posts like that...I have to admit that it was going so fast that it was very hard to keep up with...

As far as keeping up goes...I seriously doubt there are more than one or two people besides me that have actually read all the posts there. We don't mind if people don't read back...;)

That sucks Robert!! I hope he's feeling better soon. Have they ever suggested prophylactic antibiotics? I know it worked well for a friend of mine with her son and his allergies.
Sure does suck Crissa....Never had the suggestion of the prophylactic antibiotics as of yet. Being that my son is now 5 years old and smaller than a normal child, the doctor is kinda hesitant in doing new medicinal treatments. Hard to beleive, but Evan's best fitting pair of shorts is size 18 months , his regular age sized shorts fit big and we have to roll the waist line for them to stay up when there are no belt loops. I think that my wife and I brought on the allergies to him...we have really, really bad allergies and I think Evan got the worst of ours combined.

... is its all attributed to only sinus allergies. He starts off with a runny nose that eventually gets clogged up...and soon it may develop into a sinus infection. We have been doing nasal rinses twice a day, advair, nasal spray, singular and a nebulizer in the evening. He has been out of school since Tuesday, missed 1 soccer game so far and soccer practice. :(

I have this exact same thing Robert. I'm sorry to hear your little guy also suffers through it. It can also be food allergies that trigger it.

We also thought that food could be doing the trigger, but soon figured that it only occurs around this time of the year...beginning of school and fall...and that he eats the same foods over and over. Getting him to actually eat is the hard thing . The doc has not yet wanted to do allergy tests on him, but I'll tell ya that my wife and I have allergies from just about anything under the sun. I was taking shots for 3 years and I have gotten better...I usually had bad illnesses during the fall to winter months, once with a walking pneumonia.

Plano is having their annual balloon festival this weekend! Going to see about getting there at the crack of dawn to watch (and photograph[!!]) the balloons launching

That is very cool, Mike. I had a great time taking pics of the balloons last month.

What do you guys have planned for the weekend?

I'll be working on my (I mean Matthew's) 3rd grade science project - SATURN.

I've got a bunch of work around the house I've gotta do. I've been neglectful and going off to shoot instead of doing my "Hunny-do's". We are, however, going to go down to a local Wildlife Safari thing in Southern Oregon on Sunday. TERRI, ARE YOU READING THIS?

As for your science project.... WHAT ABOUT PLUTO?

Weekend? I actually should give a NON-SQUISHED warning.
I have vet appts this morning, eye dr appts this afternoon, big homecoming game this evening.
THEN we are going to Nevada first thing in the AM to attend/photograph my brother's and his wife's vow-renewal ceremony.
THEN right after church on Sunday, I'm headed to Salt lake till Tuesday night. I won't have a computer with me, either. :(

So I'll be popping in sporadically today, but after tonight, you people are on your own. FREE from random meanyheadedness.

Wow, have fun, Cat. You'll be missed.

Life sure is different here in Palmdale than what I've been used to....

It's because your head gets col....

It's because your head gets cold now.

Yeah, ^^^ that.

Do your cats 'chitter' ?

Jeffrey sits at the window and chitters at the birds. It's hilarious.

Mine "chitter" at insects/spiders. They're absolutely creepy silent when it comes to birds.

Who do you think I am? Dan? ;) Don't worry, I won't share it here ;)

Ouch.

I hate to admit it, but I gave up on RRTP.

I try to keep up with the Tupp thread. When it went ballistic, though, I really couldn't. Or when I go away for a few days, there's just no way. There are times, too, when I skim over some posts, and in the back of my mind, I'm thinking, "Yada, yada, yada." Some of the serious gear talk is sleep inducing.

We spent the drive to school this morning singing School House Rock songs and Matthew understood most of the "parts of speach" that were being sung about. We have the DVD at home and the kids have seen the shows plenty of times, but this time I could see Matthew's joy in the rear view mirror at understanding what the songs are about.

Thats funny how some kids are with food. Evan likes meats, but has to have barbecue sause and/or ketchup...hot dogs are a thing of the past...used to like them. You know Kody, I think it got real quiet in here all of a sudden. Been only you and I for bit now.

It's been that way for awhile now except for Permies post about 20 min ago. Oh well.. We can catch up on Cat the chatter box! :) AND She's not here to see me say that. lol

What's wrong with white socks? I wear them whenever I wear socks...unless I am wearing business attire...I break out the color coordinated socks ;)

Not even Permie....I think I scared her away (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showpost.php?p=3979202&postcount=2028)

I don't think any of us will ever catch up to Cat:shock:

I only wear white socks if I'm wearing sport type shoes or jeans with very casual shoes. If i'm wearing dark jeans and nicer shoes, like I am today, i wear black socks or socks that match the pant or shoe. I try to do my part for the fashion world.

That's hillarious. :p good job! I hope she comes back though.

I think you're right about Cat. :(

I am addicted to diet pepsi, I'm a horrible role model :(

fizzy sugar water is fizzy sugar water Athena. That's what I figure too Crissa - so long as it doesn't have caffeine in it.

I like Fresca or a diet Dr. Pepper once in awhile, but since I can't get them overseas, I don't have many per year. ;)

Let me know what you think of it:

This is Crathas Castle near Aberdeen, Scotland. No PP at all to it. I haven't cropped or done anything at all. lolIt's nice Kody, but it's begging for a sky. :(

...I think I scared her away (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showpost.php?p=3979202&postcount=2028)

Spiders have a tendency to do that with some ladies... Maybe you should try a new avatar. :)

I whole-heartedly agree. Unfortunately for me the first 3 days in the UK were just like that. Gray, flat, BORING skies. I could probably photoshop a sky into the shot but that's not my style.

It's exactly why it's not included in my external gallery. To me it's just another holiday snap. I still like the castle a lot though and I had a ton of fun that day wandering around the grounds in the sogging weather trying to coax a good shot or two out of it.

This was what the day was all about... umbrellas:

I was dying for a CP yesterday. The sun was harsh and we were there midday, the sky was a nice blue but it was so bright I blew it out in some shots.

I sent some test prints to a local shop today. Very cool that you can upload to them and go pick the prints up at the shop later (or have them mailed to you). :)
