I'm looking for a spare battery and came across this one, just want to hear your opinion on it if you own or used one before.

Thanks

Can't say I've tried them yet, but I have ordered two. So when they arrive I will get to check them out.

I don't remember who posted this in a different thread but the idea sounded good and that was to run it thourgh a couple of charge and discharge cycle using the charger to make sure the battery does not get too hot.

I ordered two as soon as they were online but nothing so far. I've been waiting at least a month and so far the batteries have not been produced. The price is great but we'll see when/IF they ever deliver. I had to go out and get a second canon battery so I don't really need a third but they are so cheap I figure it's an easy gamble.

I've always used the Canon battery. I get my MarkII tomorrow, so I'll see how improved the power consumption is then. Call me crazy, but I'm just a little scared to put anything third party onto a $4,500 camera.

It's just insance. You can figure 1500+ shots with the battery even if you chimp like you're from the jungle.

I can get around 750 shots (RAW) on my 1D battery, only chimping for the histogram when I move or the light changes. That's also powering the 300 2.8IS, so unless you plan to shoot more than that in one session don't worry too much.

I carry 2 spares and have only ever used one of them during a day at a race meeting.

I wouldn't try ordering those batteries.. My order was placed in March... (maybe it was April) Anyway.. it's been months and still no sign of them.
When I sold me 1D, I promised the buyer he'd get one of these batteries.. about 6 weeks later I had to send him cash.. 'cauue the batteries haven't shown up..

I also ordered mine back in March or so. No word, so I finally cancelled the order or atleast tried). Last I checked, the order was pending.....even after a couple emails and attempts to cancel in person. Bottom line is they are poor at customer service (way understated) and that to me is a big deal. So I will stick with the more expensive batteries, until some reputable dealer starts selling a clone of them.

I saw the thread when this subject first came up --- seems like years ago. I did not order from them at the time, mainly because I'm into instant gratification and refuse to order anything with a 'time uncertain' delivery date. I've since bought a spare Canon battery, and even though it cost several times as much, at least I have it. (Being a chronic 'chimper,' I need it.)

I'm becoming more and more convinced that there ain't no free lunch.
