Hi All
We spent a great day down at Goodwoood circuit ~ I had a driver experience 'session' in a Formula 2000 circa 1984.
Whilst there we spotted a couple of vintage warbirds from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. They had been at the Shoreham Airshow and were overnighting here before doing a couple of flyins on their way back to Conningsby this afternoon.
They were the Spitfire MkII which I understand is the oldest flying Spitfire and a Hurricane that has been rebuilt ~ we only had our P&S and took advantage of the movie mode to record the following.
The Spitfire was recorded on my Fuji F700 and the Hurricane on my other halfs Canon S70.
Incidently, what was very good was the Hurricane did his take off and we could see he was heading back round towards where we were standing. The result was a personal flypast for us and another couple standing there, a great honour & privelege. The movie is the result of him passing & dipping his wings in our direction and though you can not see it in the movie he gave us all a wave!
Here is the link and beware that for the Spifire you will need broadband ;)
Enjoy :D

Darn, what OS and browser are you running? It works fine on Win2k and last time I checked was fine for on XP both with v6 IE but not under Win98se
What you should see is an embeded media player (v7.10 ?)
PS There have a been a goodly number of "views" and yours is the first response ???

IE works just fine! But I don't use it for anything I don't really need it for. Sorta' like Tv & Av? :D

Thanks for checking and confirming that ~ it has been a long while since I with the help of the emAlbum creator managed to get the embedded movie files working as an option.

Sadly with my limited ability to tweak the album, Firefox and other browsers did not get a lookin but at least you can see them using your least used 'method' ;)
Hope you both liked them, though they are not photographically of a high enough (my usual?) standard.

Great capture of the Hurricane and the sound of that Merlin as it flies past is spot on.

Very nice.
If you like a funny video with a Spitfire in it, you just have to see this one:

Ha! how funny is that, any lower and the prop would be cutting the grass.

Glad you liked it and yes, something very emotional about that engine.
I spoke to one of the engineers about the later Spitfire 'Marks' with their multi bladed props and he explained that most the 4 & all 5 bladed props are attached to Griffin 2000hp engines with watercooled superchargers, the Merlin was only 1000hp. The increased blade count was to take advantage of and handle the massive increase in power.
Very nice.

Now that is either amazing or reckless, perhaps a bit of both but oh boy did he leave it to the last moment to pull up!!!
And Mick, sorry if I missed or not recalled any posts of yours but do you get over to Coningsby at all? If so any thoughts on good B&Bs in the area???

Sorry can't help you, the only place I used to stay over night at was Waddington; and then I used to camp on the air field (not the runway).

Your welcome and thanks for looking, I do like to use the capabilities as best I can of the kit & software I have and these streaming clips are just such an 'out of the box' for me.

I see a goodly number of folk have viewed the clips, I hope you liked them.
When I have some time this weekend I hope to make an extended version of the Hurricane one as I have some 'footage' of his taxiing prior to the take off and the flypast.
:)
