Hello all!

Brand new to POTN as a poster, but I've been reading for a while.

I shoot mainly for fun, though I've got a small side business going... I just scheduled my first session for this weekend for someone OTHER than family or friends, and I'm doubting myself terribly. They claim they love my work on my site, but of course, I'm stressed.

I don't have children myself, so I'm forever practicing on friends and family as I don't really shoot a lot of people. (Boats, dogs, nature are where I think I do best.)

Would love some feedback on some of these pics - what I could do better or keep in mind this weekend?

Be gentle!! Haha... but I'm truly open to any feedback, as I'm really looking to improve!

Thanks!

They claim they love your work... and there's no reason they shouldn't. These images are great, you're doing just fine. Being worried about doing well is a good thing, don't lose that, it means you are your own toughest critic which also means that most of your clients will be more than pleased with what you give them. As soon as you get over confident and stop worrying about doing well, that's when you should be worried.

Thank you thank you bckane and Dermit!!! I am indeed my harshest critic... :)

I had the session this past weekend that I was so nervous about... I hadn't met them and I didn't know who I was photographing. I thought I was photographing two very little girls! They ended up being the most beautiful family, fun, easy-going, and very good at this. :) They made it soooo easy. It was a great learning experience. I could not have asked for a better first "real" session. ;)

CC is welcome!! Especially since they haven't ordered anything yet, so I have time to make any adjustments...

(Not posed - total fluke.)

It was 6pm and I was aiming for nice dusk lighting and while it looked like it was going to storm, the came out of nowhere and was just unbearable... I did what I could, but they're still squinty.

I was most worried about blowing out their white shirts, but I think I survived.

some good stuff in there. keep working at it, and try to stay either at the same level as the people you're shooting or a little more drasitcally above the person (to quite obviously be at a different level than the subject) and that should help with the perspective too.

I like the B&W one pretty well, but the girl at the bottom left is kinda making a funny face. Shame.

Nice shots! The last two, I think, are the best.

Thank you all sooooo much! I can't wait to see/hear what they order... #2 is my favorite. :) I'm no pro, but I really enjoyed doing it and felt really good about where I'm going with all of this. Now I just need more money for more gear. ;)

Don't we all... I could do with a little more talent also!

I think the photos are really good.
