I finally got the camera I've wanted for so long and now I know it's time to learn! here are a few of the first shots I took. please c/c and let me know what I can do better. thanks!

Pretty good set of pics for first time out. Some general observations:-
Try not to crop bodies at bums or elbows (or other joints).
Try to keep main subject off-centre.
Horizons should be level.

Good luck with the shooting.
