View Full Version : Question about Zenfolio

I use zenfolio to back up my pictures as well as display some for sharing. However, there are photos within the 'back-up' area that I wouldn't mind sharing once in awhile. I have a folder called 'personal files' that is password locked.

Is there a way to get around seeing the "content protected" image and still prevent regular browsers from seeing it? For example, post images on POTN that are behind that "personal files" locked portion?

Thanks for any help!

Yes, you can: you password protect the gallery and then unlock individual pics. Any visitors would need your password to get into the gallery, but you can show the pics here. Make sure you also disable public search for that gallery just to be sure your pic doesn't show up in a keyword search.

I used a variation of that. I made a group that is Owner Only and then the galleries/images under that are unlocked. Seems to be working so far. :)

I had this same question last week (before I joined here) and emailed Zenfolio support. The reply was very prompt and basically said the same thing. Lock the gallery, unlock the photos, disable public search. You can also use this technique to assign a cover photo to a locked gallery or folder so that silly box with "*****" displays.

Since this thread has to do with zenfolio questions, anyone know what the Rating is for or how your photos get rated? Mine all show as zero.

Yea, mine too :(

We probably need way more visitors to rate:oops:

I'm wondering if it's something that hasn't been fully implimented yet?

I'm guessing that's it. Otherwise, we should have had an email or announcement on the site for a "how-to" on using the ratings.

I thought "ratings" had something to do with "popularity" but that doesn't even make sense. I guess you're right, it's another one of those things we'll see in 6-8 weeks ;)
