Sometimes I do this with my daughter :
I give her my ixus300, depending on the focused subject, I put it either in macro or landscape mode, an let her shoot...
I then take my G3, and do the same, take pictures of the same subjects, of her, tell her how to do it best, etc.
I also give her the ixus do to candids when we have guests at the house, they're better than when I do it...

I think that today with digicams, no need to buy film, pictures seen immediately, it's much easier to interest children in photography.

They see also the use of photography
Example : Last time while walking around in nature, see saw a caterpillar on the road. She said : 'Daddy, take the picture, so next time we have in school as subject butterflies, I have a picture of a caterpillar...'
I found that really cool her reacting like that.
The same happens with snails, bees, flowers, etc...
