ixus v3 512mb memory disables WB and effects

I have a IXUS v3 and have a 512MB flash card. Once i fill about 300MB of this card, all the white balance and effect features just stop working when taking pictures.

is this a common problem? or is it just that i am not using a 'canon' compact flash card?

Memory card use and white balance and effect features should NOT be related one way or other.

You likely inadvertantly changed a setting without knowledge of it, or your camera is defective (somehow.)

Does it do it repeatedly. That is if you have 299 megs on the card, and shoot a few pictures, does it suddenly turn off AWB? Then does it turn back on again after you delete a few pictures to get back below the magic 300 meg mark. Only to have AWB again fail after you shoot a few more pictures?

If you can repeat the problem, the camera is flawed so take it back. If it can't be repeated, then likely a setting was changed without you knowing it.
