What could i do to improve this picture?

I have edited it a little on photoshop - but nothing major

any ideas or comments welcome - bit new to this type of photography!

IMHO. this shot is near perfect. at least I can't think of any way to improve it. nice work.

I really like this picture - after having it on my desktop since yesterday - it looks better than the original due to the smudging of the petals

There's nothing that you can do to improve this other than to take it again!
- lighting is off
- focus is not dead on

have to admit - lighting was a spotlight in our front room - randomly pointed at it and i cant seem to get it all in focus with the macro lense thing i have - any ideas?

So many variables, that it is hard to give any advice.
For starters: go to the library and read a book about macro. PRactise the tips, etc. There are also quite a few good websites.

i cant seem to get it all in focus with the macro lense thing i have - any ideas?

I don't feel that it's necessary to get everything in focus, as long as SOMETHING is! (see my flowers link, below.)

Especially with flowers, which are soft, free-form subjects to begin with. To me, the pic should illustrate the 'soft' quality, unless you're taking pics for scientific textbook illustrations.

It's an interesting pic, except for me, the colors are a bit 'hard', too. Still, some people like that effect, so take more pics & try to learn something from them all.
