Thanks, I'm off to read it!
As a new S5 user, I need to learn all that I can!

No RAW seems a bit of a downer for such an advanced camera.

The Powershot G9 is the only current Canon compact to offer RAW support.

unless you have a DigicII camera and use the hack, of course!

Yes, I guess you could choose to invalidate your warranty and install that hack... :)

Hack doesn't change the firmware at all; it merely provides some software extensions. So it won't affect your warranty. For that matter, people have sent in hacked 300Ds (where the hack really does replace the firmware) and had them given warranty service. Sometimes they've been flashed back to the Canon firmware; other times the hacked firmware's been left on.

Got a question here. I actually had to pour over the manual but it did not explain the super macro. I kept pressing the button and never got the super mode. Got the regular macro, but it takes several presses of the button. Finally found that I can get the super macro in Scene mode only - is this normal?
I did get a super movie though!

Hi papagei
I assume you are talking about the S5 IS.
SuperMacro mode is available in SCN mode, but only if you select ‘Color Accent’ or ‘Color Swap’.
SuperMacro mode is also available in Movie, P, Tv, Av and M modes.
There is a table in the advanced manual page 199 where you can find the functions available in each shooting mode.
