close up filters

Was clean up stuff and found set of 52mm close up fliters (#1,2,3 ). They were used many years ago on SLR. Now have S3IS with a Lensmate 52mm adapter so the filters will fit. Since the S3 has close up and superclose up settings would these filters be useful or better to just donate them someplace?

They should work just fine on the S3. The best thing they will give you is working distance so you can get macro shots at a more comfortable distance. Take a look at the Sample shots here http://www.lensmateonline.com/newsite/S2macro.html and take note of the working distance you gain to get the same shot. Compare the Hoya +2 and +4 to the Super Macro shot from the S3 alone.
