Okay, here is the deal.
A co-worker asked me to work on this poor quality photo. I accepted thinking that he had a better quality photo, I had not realized this was a 600x450 cell snap shot.
Initially, I thought I would improve it enough and turn it into a virtual painting, but I ma having trouble getting anything good enough to my liking, the shot as you see poses some humdinger of challenges.
Then I though, "hum, the good folks on POTN might have a go at it, and get better results then me with my novice PS skills".
It is of his two girls and there Grandpa and Nana. Their Nana is terminally ill. This shot is from a stroll in the park.
Can someone turn this into something to hang on their family wall?
No worries, I will not take credit for any efforts!

I like this picture... Not a lot can be done to make it good enough quality to hang on a wall as a photo but I like your idea of a painting, this is what I came up with...
(photoshop cs3 a little tweaking of sat, contrast and brightness, resized it, and did a artistic/watercolor filter.

I went for the artistic version too... Used the paint daubs filter and the palate knife filter.. Reduced saturation on the reds, and overall.. Used selective color and reduced yellow out of the yellow chanel...
Not sure how this will post, but here goes... :) I hope you can see the detail at the reduced compression thingy.... It looks like a watercolor sort of thing....

Wow everybody. Thanks for the participation!
I'll basicaly open this post in the next day or two with my co-worker, and let him pick what he likes.
Bootless, I personally favor the version you did-- that is nearly exactly what I envisioned at first but could not get to my liking.
