I took a few shots last weekend out at Kakaako Waterfront Park when my sister and her boyfriend were visiting. I was trying to go for a casual look. Nothing really posed, just tried to catch them moving around. It was pretty fun. Thats like a first "real" shoot for me. I had to use my family as guinea pigs:D

Shots taken with my 5D, 24-70L and off camera 580EX II.

Need some C & C so i can improve for the next session. I need the good and especially bad...... bring it on!

1. My sister trying to teach my daughter how to blow bubbles.

2. My sister and her boyfriend, had to get them the typical tourist shot.

The first one is really great. The lighting, the mood, the crop. You should post it in the people section. Bet it does well.

seesponge, thanks for the compliment, I will give it a shot in the people section. I was kinda thinking that i might get better criticism here but im sure everybody in "people" would help out too.

Aloha

Just my opinions, but for what they're worth:

#1: cute shot, but it would be nice to see more of the girl's face or at least have the shadows off of her face. The expression on the mother is not entirely unflattering because she's gorgeous anyway, but she might not like it because it's a little contorted. I didn't really see that she was teaching her to blow bubbles right away. This would have been really great a second later with an actual bubble and being able to see the expression on the child's face.

#2: A bit soft for me, but I like it. Love the light in this one. Most people would say that it's better to have the space in front of them, but I kinda like to change it up with this sort of thing too. Especially with the city behind them and them looking away from it... if that makes sense.

#3: Looks a tad dark to me, and I think the hair in front of the further girl's face is too much. I love the way they're holding their arms and hands. It looks like they're posing for a differnt camera, though (even though I know they weren't) rather than looking off at something together, to me.

Hey, don't feel bad having to get family to be your models. They're getting some awesome shots out of it!

Notapro, Thanks for your comments, it really is appreciated. On #3 I was going for a different look but thats the one they liked, so hey, i cant argue with my sisters (might end up in the hospital).
