sold my camera on saturday, can't pick the new one up until thursday!!! whole 5 days with nothing to play with is killing me, and i've got brand new 50mm f1.4 lens sitting in a box can't be tested, also with a 1.4x which i'm dying to try out on 70-200mm ...
has anyone had same experience before? how did you cope? daily job doesn't count ... you know just your body there, mind is somewhere else ...

Patience is a virtue.
I guess that's why there aren't many virtuous photographers----they're always waiting for the new gear to arrive.
Try knitting.

well, i guess you are right, but i just wanna get the camera early so i can get used to the control, gonna do a portrait shoot for a friend/actress for her CV/Resume photo, it's important to her, so i don't wanna screw it up in any way.
knitting? nah, i'll pass, i'd rather spend more time at this place :D
i'll see if i can get it one day early ...

Perhaps it's time to think about a back up camera. Need not be an SLR, could be a point and shoot that is waterproof so that you can still take photos in the heavy rain, and on the beach. Places you would not dare take your SLR and lenses for fear of huge repair/replacement costs...
Hope you make it through your dry spell with your sanity intact.

Polish your glass?
Clean the crud out of the corners of your camera bag?
Blow the sand out of your tripod joints?
Spend the lonely hours cruising B&H?
Weed out all those images you've been meaning to for eons?
Do some serious nose mining while watching TV?
Cold turkey bro', cold turkey...

...don't leave your lenses in your car or you might have a new waiting game.
Imagine, body and no lenses...

never, even though my insurance policy covers all risks including leave equipment in a car boot with no one attended, i would even think about doing it. Always, always take all my gear with me.
