Superfeeder is up, but not yet perfect... It's got 4 feeders (sunflower, thistle, finch food, and suet) and 2 large, non-shiny sticks mounted on top. It's 9 feet of pure picture platform.
Alas, it's not perfect. The dang thing is *too* tall! I need a stepladder to fill the feeders, and I can't get good backgrounds because I'm shooting at a flat angle. Lowering it a foot will let me get a down-angle to catch grass for a background. The anti-squirrel guard proved inadequate, so that's been fixed. (Hah!) The sticks have too many small branches and they clutter the pics.
And I'm beginning to think that I should have hung the feeders from the sticks themselves. The stupid birds keep landing on the pine boards I used for crossbars. Don't they understand that I'm trying to take natural pictures of them? Sheesh.
When I get this perfected I'm starting a new company - Superfeeder Picture Platform Incorporated. The feeder itself will be cheap, but placement consulting and installation fees will be through the roof...
Anyway, it yielded a House Finch and a couple of nuthatches today. So the House Finch checks off another box. Still to go: Male American Goldfinch, Male & Female Cardinals, Titmouse, and Mourning Dove if I can ever coax one of them to feed from a pole (not likely). Oh, and a Grackle - I got a surprise this morning when I saw one on the sunflower feeder. I've never seen one in my yard before.
Here's what you've all been waiting for (yeah, right):

(Bit of a crop to get rid of most of the cluttery background branches...)
