ok i'm curious as to how you can get that kind of shot, can someone give me some input. everytime i see a fly it is never still...haha

In general, lots of patience and move slowly towards your subject. If you move in too quickly they will think you are a predator. Also you have more chance for it to stay put, if it is actually doing something like washing or eating.
Dragon flies are a good example where sometimes if you just turn your head when you have spotted them, they are already gone. However, I have shots at dragons where my lens was less than an inch from its face and I was blasting my ringlite over and over again.
What you also need to realise is that from the 100 attempts of getting this close, at least 95 get away too early. Of the remaining 5 I am happy if I have one shot that I find good enough to keep but it may not be good enough to show here. I try to post less but (hopefully) of good quality.
Just keep trying!
