I took this picture at a local high school FB game last fall when I had just gotten my XT. For some reason I LOVE this photo and thought I would share it to see what someone else thought of it. The kid with the ball is one of the most talented players I have seen!

thanks for looking! C&C always welcome.

Well... it isn't exactly sharp - most likely due to a low shutter speed. But, I see what you mean about liking it - it implies motion and I like that.

The the main subject (ball carrier) was in complete focus, i think it would be a killer picture.

Were you field side?

I agree, wish he was in focus, I was in the stands but at a small school so the stands were only 20 ft. behind the sidelines - the play went right down our sideline right in front of us.

You will rarely get panning shots like this with the subject in complete focus. The best you can hope for is the get the relatively slow-moving parts of the body sharp, like the head, torso, etc.

Here are a couple examples of panning done right (not my work - I wish!):

Since you can't see his face, I think the photo is good. It seems to show the intensity of the game. However I belive that the best football shots are ones that have the players face, and ball in the shot. The faces show emotion. This is not always an easy thing to get and even more difficult at a night game played under poor lighting conditions.

If your shot is posted along with many clear shots, It will not seem like a msitake but people my find it creative.

It kind of makes me sea sick!

That could be because of working another 16 hour day for the 4th day in a row too.

I do like the concept though.

Like the effect of the blur in the background even if it was accident!
