My cousin wants me to update her headshots, i have never done this...have no idea how to go about it.

I wish i had a few extra flashes but what i've got should work ok with some other light sources we can find

300D w/ 550ex

50mm f/1.8
70-200 f/2.8

I figure one of the two should work pretty well for the shoot but i guess i'm not sure whta it should look like.

I've done a little googling and will continue to do so, but if any of you have any tips or example shots i'd apreciate it.

Can you be more specific? This seems like something you should be able to do with your eyes shut.

She does beauty pageants and the like and also wants to get into broadcasting.

I feel like i know what i'm doing...but, i dunno.

I would think that with that line of work, any type of head-shot is going to be edited anyway. Some masking to rid her face of any blemishes.
What you want is a couple lights then. You don't need all flash to do this. You can go with some constant lighting. Get a couple 500w halogens from Home Depot and a couple diffusers.
Leave a pm for Slejhamer. He has done the "cheap" route before. His results were outstanding.

Can you place her near a big window with no sunlight? With natural light on one side of the face and a white board reflector filling the shadow side as needed, you can get great light for head shots. Experiment a bit.
