Couple of shots of a flat footed fly, about 3mm body length - Platypezidae. Interesting dual colour eyes. Must say it's feet look ok to me.

Those eyes. If it wasn't for the name I doubt anyone would look at the feet...
Lovely shots Brian.

excellent detail for such a small fly, perfect lighting as usual - is your kitchen towel double thickness and do you use just one sheet?

Brian, your pictures continue to amaze me.
Incidently, you could be a novel advertising angle for Bounty kitchen towels. ;)

Yet more lovely shots - I wonder if this is the same fly as the small ones I used to see in Sydney, which never stay still, they run around the leaf like lunatics in circles.

Just a single sheet as it comes (I think each sheet is two ply ?)
Incidently, you could be a novel advertising angle for Bounty kitchen towels. eccles
Fraid I've never tried that brand- just Tesco or Sainsbury house brands :)

They were with my MPE-65 lens at about 3:1 with some focus stacking

Sounds the same type - they do run around in circles on the leaves. You have to wait for them to wear themselves out. Wonder if that's why they have flat feet ?

Hiya Brian,
Excellent shots as always, #2 is my favorite it reminds my of someone I know that spent a bit to long in the Pub & has to crawl on his hands & knees up the hill to get home
Cheers for now
