Hi guys, was wating on a 580exII to come and it hasnt arrived, now i have a shoot tonight at a church event(high ceilings, poor lighting) mainly people and performances. The lenses i have are sigma 30mm, sigma 10-20 and canon 70-300 2.8is, do you think i am stuffed? or should i be ok. I am shooting with a 350d so iso noise at 1600 is quite bad. Should i still shoot tonight.?...or forget about it?

better get the shots than nothing at all. don't know about the 350d, but when I used the 20d during the reception, my ISO is maxed at 3200. Used the same 30mm lens.
on-board flash would be the last line. :)

Go shoot and run noiseware on your images.

So how'd it go??? ....what's the famous saying....."the shoot must go on"....or something like that :) One of the greatest skills in photography is that when things go all wrong no one ever knows it but you.

If this was a paid shoot and you needed the 580 in order to satisfy the customers needs then you should be upfront with them and arrange for someone else to do it or let.
If it is just for yourself I would go and take it as a learning experience on using high ISO.

Yeah, how did it get corrupted? I've had my (2)Extreme III 2gb for about 1 year and shot well over 5000 images and have never had a problem.
Should I be worried?

i have no idea, when i was shooting, i was review the pics with no probs. and i saw i had one shot left so i took the shot, then i turned of the camera and took out the card. Got home put the card back in the camera, and card error msg came up. SO i downloaded 3-4 different recovery programs including the one from sandisk and none of them registered anything on the CF card. When i look at the properties of the CF card though it seems that there is some info on it but nothing comes up....dont know what to do..!...arrgh...i think dont be too worried should just be a freak accident cos i have many other CF cards and have no probs with them.......just upset it happened.

I really do not think you have a 70-300 2.8 IS, but it is probably a 70-200 2.8 IS. Bring that lens and a good low light prime and bump up the ISO to 3200 and you will be fine. At least you should be able to get good exposures without having to bump up the exposure in PP and increase noise.

Sometimes what i like to do it shoot knowing the noise is there and just make everything monotone(b&w with a tint like sepia) in PP. You get these gritty almost old film look to them. Quite fun.
