Hi everybody.

I have a big favor to ask you, I just bought my new canon flash, the speedlite 580EX II. Its awesome, the only problem (but a serious one) is that I don't know whether I have changed some important setting or if the flash is damaged.
I'm going to list the problems I have, hoping for a good helpful answer

- When in fully automatic mode the flash fires and almost at the same time the picture is taken, but the result is a black picture, or at least as if I never used a flash.

- On manual mode, if I change the flash power from 1.1 to 1.128 the two pictures are exactly the same.

- the stroboscopique flash only makes one picture and one cgain, if I change any settings, the pictures will be the same.

the only changes that happen is when I change the ISO or the speed ON THE CAMERA and not on the flash.

I'm getting worried, plz help.

One more thing, It (maybe) the cause of the problem, I changed a bit the custom functions, would that be the problem?

I have read the manual about 5 times and still no clue what happens :(

Thank you

Try engaging the high sync mode option on the flash.

What settings did you use on the camera when using the flash? What custom functions did you set on the flash (those set to something other than 0)?

Do you have a sample picture or two you can post along with the Exif info, if possible?
