Thanks Scott.....they really like sun flower seeds. Get a palm full of seeds and you will be surprised how readily they come to you.

Good catch Scott. Mine aren't that tame yet. And if there are seeds already out, they won't come to my hand. :)

Josh, check out the woodpecker and chickadee slide shows in my footer. Yup, they can get real friendly. :)

First of all beautiful shot with nice exposure details and excellent BG.
My experience with sunflower seeds is that they will land, take a seed and leave,,,just like at the feeders. If you crush a peanut into very small pieces, they will stay and eat and i think its because the pieces are too small to bother hiding away, I have had them in my hand for 30 secs to 1 minute with the crushed peanuts.

I shelled a peanut one time and held half of it tight between my finger and thumb so he couldn't get it. He gave me such a forlorn look, I never did it again.

Thanks Gary....I've actually been printing some of the better shots and then mounting them on hardboard to make posters ifor the waiting room of my office. Its a great way to write off the photography equipment :)

Yes, it seems that they are very friendly. At the cottage, the kids will stand next to the feeders with seed on their hands and the chickadees will fly off the perch of the feeder to land on their hands.

Thanks Gary for the tip.....we always have peanuts (in the shell) for the blue jays, so next time I will prepare some for the chickadees. You are right in that for the above picture the birds were not on the hand for more than a second or two. There was a rotation of about six of them that seemed to take turns.

No its actually my wife's hand, but she's friends with Peter and will be quite amused when I tell her that she has a hand like Peter's :)
I still feel guilty.
And so you should Mitch :) :)

I love the 2nd one as well, Scott. Great motion and lines.
And, just for the record, I've never seen Petey's hand, so I didn't have anything to compare it to!

Well I've seen Peter's hands and although they may be nice, I prefer the one in this picture :) :)
