Hi my friends,

Simple fast question: one friend asked me to search for him a compact camera, which one is the best compact camera?

1. the budget is about $400 more or less
2. For landscape and urban shooting [buildings, street, some outdoor shooting].

He was thinking alot about fuji, he got Canon IXUS 950IS recently but he thought he needs something much better compact camera, really i can't understand his point but i recommended him with Canon S5 IS or another canon like G9 or even G7, but he seems leaning to Fuji as he saw photos from another friend by this camera [Fujifilm S5700 maybe] good quality, i told him even from Canon and Nikon compact cameras can have that good quality as well, so he asked me to check and search, oh i forgot that he told by someone or a seller that Fuji is the best in compact or P&S level [i mean the best camera], so can you recommend me for him an excellent P&S in this budget above for that purpose in #2?

If he wants a literally compact camera I dont recommend the S series, they are big and heavy, I would look into the A or G series

I have an a640 which I absolutely love. I used it in Detroit taking photos of buildings and statues when I was interning at a company there this summer. I have also used it for landscapes and pictures of my dog (lots of them) :). Canon recently released the successor to the a640, the a650IS. The a720IS would probably give you less noise though, since it has fewer megapixels (8 compared to 12 in the a650IS). Fewer MPs on the same size sensor means less noise.

I will tell him that and see.
