Im trying to produce a HDR picture
http://flyingpanther.wordpress.com/hdr-tutorial/
however the tutorial talks about bracketing, im unsure whether the SD850 has this option, and if not is there any way of achieving the HDR effect using this camera?
Thanks so much guys

You must work in M (Manual mode) to enable Exposure Compensation
Shooting three pictures at -2, 0 and +2 should be enough. This will be a very close equivalent to bracketing exposure, except that you must manually change from -2 to 0 and to +2 for each picture. Be careful not to move the tripod or the camera between shots.
Adjusting the Exposure compensation is described in page 56 of the advanced user guide, but there are more settings to deal with.
Read a brief description of Manual mode in page 12 of the basic user guide and learn to set all the things that are under user control.
Good luck

I’m glad to be of some help.
I do not have the SD850, just a Pro1 and a collection of Canon User Guides to read from :)
I did some HDR tests (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showpost.php?p=3984951&postcount=5) using the Pro1 and Photomatix recently, and I’m planning to learn more about HDR soon.

thanks rafael, i love the sun on that picture you took, it looks crazy. I will be taking my car and my camera to Red Rock Canyon soon where i hope to take my first set of HDR pictures. The colours there are amazing, especially when the sun is setting. I do plan on getting an SLR camera soon but this will keep me happy for now.
The only thing with me manually having to adjust the exposure is i will have to always choose to shoot something completely still because of the time its going to have to take to change the settings. Where as with a camera that does it itself, i could shoot trees, water etc....
