Mr. Don Ellis pointed out the other day there is a good sharpening plug-in for Photoshop 5 & 6 called "Ultrasharpen". I have been using Pekka's LinearSharpen and Fred's EdgeSharpen all along. Now I want to know how they comapred. So I run a little un-scientific tests on both sharpening software and your eyes would be the judge.
This is the original, converted from Pekka's profile of "400-800 Sharpen" setting

Finally, this is with Ultrasharpen demo apply to the one above

Both produce no artificats. You should notice that they are very close to each other in terms of sharpening result. However, Fred's action makes the image a little too bright on my uncalibrated monitor.
