What's the best way to saturate the colors of a photo. Let me explain.

In Scott Kelby's book, he goes through adjusting shadow, midtone, and highlight. I don't think that's necessary, or is it.

What's the preferred way of doing it.

Depends. Sometimes simple saturation is enough. But sometimes that makes the brighter colors - highlight - look unnatural. Or often is that shadows that aren't showing the color enough, while the highlights are just fine.

It all depends on the image.

If simple saturation works, then use it. But remember that the Kelby info exists - you may one day take a picture where you need more control.
