Hired vs non hired photographers

Hi,
I am wondering if I can go to a local sporting event like a 5k race or a little league game or even a small town parade where the organizers have hired a photographer and take pictures on my own and sell them?

Contact the organizers in advance and tell them that you are participating in the event. Then ask if there will be any official photographers present.

1. If they say "No," then you have an opportunity to present yourself.

2. If they say "Yes," then you ask if the participants must buy photos from the official photographers, or whether you can buy photos from just anybody.

Based on that last answer, you can figure out your next step.

It seems to me that the three events you mentioned take place on public property, so I don't know how anyone could prevent you from taking and selling photographs.
