I just bought a Rebel X(s), and was curious if I could use the EF-500 DG Super flash on the non-DSLR?

I've already learned the Kit lens off the 300D will not work on non-DSLRs. Take my word for it!
=P

TIA,

Regards

If the camera body is a Type A body, the flash should work fine. The kit lens doesn't work because it was specifically designed for the Digital Rebel. It goes into the camera further then standard EF lenses.

As long as the flash is E-TTL it will work. TTL flashes will not.

The Rebel X is a film camera. It uses TTL, ATTL, and ETTL

The Sigma EF500 DG Super will work wth any A type body in E TTL and will revert to TTL with any older B type body. I currently use a EF 500 DG Super and a 420ex with my 300D and A2.
