I am using the built on flash for some minor pictures indoors or at night where sufficent lighting isnt possible. Please dont hate me.

I was in Av mode and the flash blinked multiple times. Was this for the AF or the light metering? I turned off the AF and used manual and the flash quite doing it. But when I set the apeture, the pictures came out fairly overexposed as if the camera wasnt metering the flash. Am I right or wrong? Any feedback is good.

10D uses flash bursts in the dark to help it focus as it doesn't have an IR focusing assist beam found on Elan II cameras. You can turn it off/on in custom functions.

The exposure problem is usually fixed by lowering ISO - if the minimal power output for a flash is set, being too close at to high an ISO will over expose the subject.

Hope this helps.

I know there is a list somewhere that tells you all about the custom functions. Is there one posted somewhere on the internet?

The 10D manual is available in PDF format. It lists all of your custom functions.
